We’ve been on hiatus for October taking some much needed R&R, healing nagging injuries, and enjoying life outside of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Just kidding – there is no life outside of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
November marks the start of our new column, “Tools For Beginners”. We’ll focus on improving your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with technique, physical condition, and mental preparation. Thanks a ton for your support and as always let us know your feedback!
The closed guard is the essence of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. It’s a defensive position protecting the small from the large and the weak from the strong. It’s an offensive position providing a path to reversing, submitting, and taking the back of your opponent. Our very first “Tools For Beginners” installment focuses on three essential sweeps to take your closed guard to the next level. Take some time this month to drill these sweeps until you have them mastered. Good Training!
