Is Ralek Gracie competing?
“Yes, he signed up and he’s ready to go.”
I hear you have a guy to look for nicknamed “Avatar” that may be competing?
“Yeah my guy is Eric Keahi. He’s planning on competing no-gi. He’s a good guy. Watch for him!”
How are disputes are going to be resolved?
“The only way to complain is record the match. If you have it recorded, we will review the match. If you can show the mistake, we can fix it. I can’t record every match, but if the competitor can bring the video, we can fix it. The only referees will be blackbelts and brownbelts.”
“My goal is to make a better tournament for everybody. Kids, women, everybody. We’re going to make this sport open.”
“When you make the complaint, you have to bring $100.00 deposit. If you’re right, you get your money back. If you’re wrong, you lose your money. This is how we cut down on guys complaining for no reason and causing extra work. I’m fair to everybody. If you complain and you’re right, that’s ok. If you complain and you’re just trying to cause a problem, then you lose your money. In our tournaments, mistakes will be fixed and made better.”
“Stay tuned for the tournament start times. If we have a lot of competitors, we may start the kids early to make sure we run on time.”
How will the weigh in process work?
“You have to fight at the weight you weigh in. When you sign up Friday and weigh in, we put you in the proper bracket. When you come back the next day for your match, we weigh you again. If you’re over weight, we put you up in the next weight bracket. You don’t get disqualified but you do have to move to the higher bracket. Competitors who are late or over weight may have to fight for bye spaces to get into the main bracket.”
“I want everybody to come. I hear good news that a lot of good guys are going to come. Good luck to everyone who is coming. Ralek is going to come and I’m bringing a good team. I’m expecting it to be a good, open, and fair tournament.”
